How to apply to work at RecSports (all positions)

Step 1: Review student employee positions

Step 2: Complete RecSports employee application

Step 3: Grab your resume. All student employee applications must be submitted with a resume.

Step 4: Submit your student employment application and your resume by:

  • Emailing to (preferred method)
  • Submitting in-person to the Rolfs Sports Recreation Center Front Desk

Interview Process (all positions except Intramural Officials)

Step 1: Wait to be contacted by hiring manager.

  • Not all applicants will receive an interview. Applications are screened based on department need, best fit, and on quality of the materials.

Step 2: If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted by a RecSports staff member. 

Step 3: If selected for an interview, make sure to prepare.

  • Candidates should report to the designated location on time, but no more than 10 minutes early.
  • Interviews are conducted by area supervisors.
  • If you miss your interview time, make up interviews may only be held if time permits on another day and if openings are still available.

Step 4: Accept/reject position if selected for hire.

If you're applying to be an Official. After submitting your resume & application:

Step 1: Wait to be contacted by RecSports regarding attending a mandatory training clinic. 

Step 2: Attend a mandatory training clinic.

Step 3: Complete and pass a sport-specific test (handed out at the mandatory training clinic).

Step 4: Accept/reject position if selected for hire.

You've joined the RecSports staff, now what?

Step 1: Once your information is processed by RecSports as a new hire, you will receive an email from Human Resources with a link to complete Employment Eligbility Verification (requirements you must complete as a student employee). THIS PROCESS MUST be completed within three business days of you receiving the Employment Elgibility Verfication email from Human Resources. If it is not completed within three business days, you will be unable to work as an employee with RecSports.

  • Step 1. Using a secure link that will be provided via email immediately upon hire, you will log into the secure site to complete Section One of online Form I-9 on or prior to your start date of employment. Complete Section One online now or view the Online Form I-9 Instructions. Section One should not be completed online until you are within 60 days of your start date of employment (of for faculty, within 60 days of the contract start date).
  • Step 2. To verify Section Two of Form I-9, you must present original, unexpired documentation to verify your identity and employment authorization in-person at the Office of Human Resources located in 200 Grace Hall. This step must be completed within three business days of your start date of employment. Photocopies and/or facsimiles of documents are not acceptable.  

Step 2: Gather your bank account information and enroll in direct deposit in order to ensure you get paid. The University of Notre Dame does not issue paper checks. Direct deposit is the only option to receive your pay. 

Step 3: In order to begin working, employees should communicate with their new supervisor in order to complete area trainings and to start working!
