Last night in Compton Family Arena, the Falto Fury took on the Crepes of Wrath in this week's Game of the Week in CoRec Broomball. Both teams were coming off tough losses in Week 1, and each were hungry for a victory.
Both teams were immediately aggressive on offense, sending 4 or 5 of their players up the ice to put overwhelming pressure on attack. Opportunities were abound as the ball was crossed in front of the net, but fantastic goalkeeping kept the scoreboard clean.
The Crepes of Wrath had a few breakaway chances but were unable to put the ball away. The Falto Fury saw their best opportunity late in the 2nd half when their relentless attack recorded multiple shots in a short time period, but were dispelled by the COW defense.
The game ended in a draw, and both teams walked away disheartened without a victory. Joe Kolb of St. Edwards Hall was disappointed walking away without the victory but he vowed a turnaround for the next 2 games of the season. He cited a lack of finishing as well as personal responsibility for the tie.
The captain for Falto Fury, senior Michael Notes of Stanford Hall was actually pretty happy with the result. They were hoping to record their first win, but they will have to wait for next week where hopefully the Fury can show their stuff. He commended the Fury goalkeeper for keeping the points off the board. The Fury will go back to the drawing board to rethink strategy in hopes of firing up the offense and putting some points on the board.
