On Saturday, September 27, six members of the ND/SMC sailing team traveled to Denison University to compete in the Big Red Regatta. With blue skies, sun, and NE winds 5-10 knots that lasted through mid-afternoon, a full rotation was completed on Saturday.
Notre Dame’s A team was skippered by Becky Jegier ('15) and crewed by Grace Curtin ('18) who came in 2nd behind Denison University with a score of 12. The B team consisted of Zach Bequette ('17), John Porter ('17), Matthew Greene ('16), and Macaila DeMario ('16). The B team ended the regatta win 5th place with 25 points. The combined team score of 37 points put Notre Dame in 3rd place behind Denison University and Ohio State University .
With many of the sailors on the B team sailing in a competitive college regatta for the first time, the team had an excellent weekend of racing and learning with plans of many more to come!
