The Fishing Club of Notre Dame is devoted to gathering a community of students and faculty passionate about all types of angling. From spin to fly fishing, the club is designed to foster interest in the wonderful art of angling, put its members ‘on the water’, and to provide funding and equipment for group trips. Over the last several years the club has participated in Fall and Spring Steelhead Tournaments on the Pere Marquette River in Michigan and the Ice Box Bass Tournament in Indianapolis. We also organize weekend getaways, as well as afternoon trips to Saint Mary’s and Saint Joe’s lakes on Notre Dame’s campus and to other nearby water bodies. The club recently acquired boats and is anxious to put them to good use. The Fishing Club of Notre Dame also partners with the Saint Joseph River Valley Fly Fisher’s Club in South Bend with stream restoration and service projects in the Michiana area. The club extends its efforts to help preserve the natural beauty, improve the quality of the fishing, while contributing to the South Bend area through service, and building new relationships with fellow anglers. The Fishing Club of Notre Dame also holds several fly-casting clinics and will be hosting fly-tying clinics each year to familiarize and introduce its members to the art of fly fishing.
