BOXING PROGRAMS SOAR
Women’s boxing marked its fifth annual Baraka Bouts, as the club tripled in size to 90 members, with 48 participating in the bouts. The club donated a check to the Holy Cross Missions in East Africa in the amount of $4,000, twice the size of last year’s check. This was due to increased attendance and merchandise sales. Kelsey Miller received the Best Boxer Award.
Men’s Boxing also reached record numbers, with 205 of its 240 boxers participating in the 77th annual Bengal Bouts. The donation to the Holy Cross Missions in Bangladesh was $60,000. Record attendance throughout the five-night event culminated with six thousand fans attending the finals this year. The finals were webcast worldwide for the first time. |
