April 4-6, 2008
Seven riders competing in the IHSA Regionals for the Notre Dame / Saint Mary’s equestrian club earned a fifth place team finish at Purdue. Krista Jones’ 3rd place in intermediate flat was the team’s highest score. Heather LaDue, Jennifer Gilardi and Kelly Daniels placed 4th, 5th, 6th respectively in the novice flat,with Andrea Kochert also competing.
Daniels also took 5th in novice fences, with LaDue, Gilardi, and Jones also entered. Catherine Germer and Courtney Klosterman competed in walk trot canter in the club’s only other entries.

The Equestrians took second and third in a pair of IHSA shows at Purdue over break. Kelly Daniels joined several teammates in qualifying for the April 5th Regionals in both novice flat and novice fences at these shows.
The Irish who have qualified include the following: novice fences: Jennifer Gilardi, Heather Ladue, Krista Jones and Daniels; intermediate flat: Jones; novice flat: Andrea Kochert, Ladue, Gilardi, and Daniels; walk-trot-canter: Catherine Germer, Courtney Klosterman.
In Saturday competition, Laura Divel and Nicole Oberschmied finished 1-2 in advance walk-trot-canter; Tiffany Olier took 2nd in walk-trot-canter, and Katrina Steward was 4th in walk-trot. Daniels won first place in novice flat, with Maryellen Przybylinski 3rd, Marie Cardoso 4th, Katie Pietrucha 5th, and Andrea Kochert 6th.
Gilardi was 3rd in intermediate flat, while Alie Minnis, 2nd, Jones, 4th, and Lauren Desrosiers, 6th all scored in open flat. Germer, Daniels and Przybylinski were 2nd, 3rd, and 5th respectively in novice fences. Minnis and Desrosiers placed 4th and 6th in open fences, while Jones and Gilardi were 3rd and 5th in intermediate fences.
In Sunday’s show, Minnis claimed 1st in open fences, followed by teammate Desrosiers in 4th. Daniels also picked up a 1st in intermediate fences with Gilardi and Jones tying for 4th.
Other first places on the day included Przyblinski in novice flat, with Germer, 5th, and Kochert 6th. Oberschmied garnered a blue ribbon in advance walk-trot-canter, as Divel was 3rd and Catherine Mikkelsen 5th in the event. Stewart’s 4th in walk-trot and Olier’s 5th in beginner walk-trot-canter, and Pietrucha’s 6th in novice fences were the only Irish points scored in those events.

The Notre Dame - Saint Mary’s equestrians registered their first IHSA High Point performance this weekend at Purdue’s Invitational, with a first place total of 31 points. Krista Jones, Heather LaDue and Jennifer Gilardi swept 1-2-3 in the intermediate flats as Jones qualified for regionals with her performance.
Kelly Daniels rode to a first place standing in novice fences, with teammates Sarah Baker, 3rd, Andrea Kochert, 4th, Jones, 5th, and Maryellen Przyblinski 6th in the event. Daniels also took 2nd in novice flat, leading teammates Kochert, 3rd, Baker, Courtney Klosterman and Laura Hale tied for 5th, and Maria Cardoso 6th.
The other Irish to garner a first place was Gina Camarata in advanced walk-trot-canter. Laura Divel and Nicole Oberschmied finished 4th and 6th respectively. In walk-trot, Katrina Stewart and Laura Tiche finished 2nd, 3rd for the Irish.
LaDue led the club with a 2nd place in intermediate fences as Gilardi and Brittany Gragg tied for 5th, securing valuable points for the club. Tiffany Olier competed in beginner walk-trot-canter to complete the Irish showing

The Notre Dame / Saint Mary’s equestrians competed in a pair of competitions over the weekend at the Taylor University IHSA Shows. On Saturday, Jennifer Gilardi qualified for regionals with a 2nd place showing in novice fences, while teammate Kelly Daniels took 4th in the event. The other top team finishes included Alie Minnis’ 2nd I open flat and Laura Divel’s 2nd in walk-trot-canter, where teammates Nicole Oberschmied, Catherine Mikkelsen and Courtney Klosterman took 4th, 5th, and 6th respectively.
Katie Pietrucha finished 3rd I novice flat, ahead of Sarah Baker’s 4th, and a 6th place tie between Andrea Kockert and Meg Smith. Heather Ladue was 4th in intermediate flat and Brittany Gragg 6th in intermediate fences. The final Irish results saw Katrina Stewart and Laura Tiche tie for 5th in walk-trot.
In Sunday’s show, Krista Jones was named reserve high point rider, with a pair of 1st places in novice fences and intermediate flat. Heather Ladue and Gilardi tied for third in intermediate flat, while Kelly Daniels tied Jones for first in novice fences, with Pietrucha 4th. Open fences found Minnis claiming another 2nd for the weekend with Lauren Desrosiers in fourth. Ladue continued her strong showing with a 2nd in intermediate fences, leading teammate Gragg who improved to 5th. Gragg also took 6th I open flat.
Pietrucha and Laura Hale tied for 4th in novice flat as teammates Andrea Kochert and Maria Cardoso tied for 6th. Catherine Germer’s third place in walk-trot-garner qualified her for regionals as she tied Klosterman, one place behind Laura Divel’s 2nd place. Nicole Oberschmied and Tiffany Olier finished 5th and 6th respectively.

The Notre Dame Saint Mary’s equestrian club participated at the Tournament of Champions in Virginia this weekend, an invitation only event for the country’s top clubs. Although Krista Jones, Brittany Gragg and their teammates failed to earn ribbons against the nation’s elite teams, the club did perform to a very high standard in representing Notre Dame and Saint Mary’s.

The Notre Dame / Saint Mary’s equestrian club opened IHSA competition this weekend in a show hosted by Purdue. Kelley Daniels was the reserve high point riders. The club has many new members this year and still managed a fifth place finish at the show.
Lauren Desrosier placed third in open fences, the best showing for the club in the advanced competition. Daniels captured first place in novice fences, with teammates Katie Pietrucha, Heather LaDue, and Jen Gilardi finishing 3rd, 4th, and 5th respectively. Daniels also garnered a first place in novice flat, as the Irish were very strong in this event. Laura Hale took 2nd, La Due was 3rd, Andrea Kochert came in 5th, and Maria Cardos and Gilardi tied for 6th.
Krista Jones gave the best team performance in intermediate flat, riding to a 4th place showing. Llaura Divel finished 6th in advanced walk-trot-canter and Katrina Stewart also took 6th in walk-trot. In beginning walk-trot-canter, Catherine Germer and Tiffany Olier took 2nd and 3rd to complete the Irish scoring.
The club will next compete November 10-11 at Saint Mary’s of the Woods College.

Brittany Gragg qualified for Nationals in novice fences this weekend at the Zones, held at Lake in the Hills, IL, to continue the outstanding post season performances for the NDSMC equestrians. Eight riders qualified for Regionals this year, including Gragg, Claire Freeman, Kelsey Ostberg, Katie Baron, Krista Jones, Catherine Germer, Alisha Wilkinson, and Nicole Gonsalves.
From this group, two advanced to Zones. Gragg finished 1st in novice fences at Zones as well as Regionals, while Ostberg finished a very strong 4th in open fences. Gragg will next compete in the Nationals next month in Springfield, MA.

The NDSMC equestrian club claimed reserve high point honors at the Purdue IHSA competition on Sunday, after Kelsey Ostberg earned high point rider honors in Saturday’s competition. Ostberg took 1st in open fences on Saturday and tied teammate Claire Freeman for 2nd in open flat. Katie Baron, Lauren Desrosiers, and Freeman finished 2nd, 4th, and 5th respectively in open fences, while Baron, 3rd, Brittany Gragg, 5th, Jennifer Gilardi, 6th tie, and Alisha Wilkinson, 6th tie, all scored for the Irish in open flat. Gilardi and Wilkinson also earned 1st and 3rd place showings in novice fences, with Krista Jones competing as well.
In novice flat, Laura Hale and Andrea Kochert tied for 3rd, while Gilardi and Wilkinson tied for 6th. Katie Sabella garnered a 1st place in walk-trot-catner, with teammates Nicole Golsolves, 3rd, Courtney Hofman, 5th, and Courtney Klosterman, 6th, on the scoreboard. Catherine Germer placed 2nd in the walk-trot event.
On Sunday, Katie Baron and Alie Minnis took 1st - 2nd in open fences, with Ostberg and Desrosiers finishing 5th - 6th. Brittany Gragg was 5th in intermediate fences while Gilardi and Jones took 2nd and 4th in novice fences.
Claire Freeman had a fine ride to take 1st in open flat, with Ostberg 3rd, and Baron and Gragg tying for 6th. Krista Jones claimed a 1st in intermediate flat, and Alisha Wilkinson and Ariel Klingamen shared 1st in novice flat, with Gilardi 2nd and Laura Hale competing.
Catherine Germer claimed the final 1st for the Irish in walk-trot-canter, as the Irish dominated the event with Klosterman 2nd, Gonsolves 3rd, Hofman 4th, and Katie Sabella 6th.

The NDSMC equestrian club traveled to Taylor University for IHSA competition this weekend. Claire Freeman had the best showing of the Irish riders, with a 1st in open fences. Teammates Kelsey Ostberg and Lauren Desrosiers took 2nd and 6th in the event.
In open flat, Freeman, Ostberg, and Desrosiers took 4th, 5th, 6th. Brittay Gragg represented the Irish in intermediate fences, taking 5th, and in intermediate flats, finishing 4th.Krista Jones had the only other 1st place on the day, in novice flat. Jennifer Gilardi, 3rd, Alisha Wilkinson, 4th, Andrea Kochert, Ariel Klingamen, and Caitlin Buechley all 5th in separate classes, and Laura Hale, 7th, completed the Irish in the event.
The Irish also fared well in novice fences with four riders scoring: Jones, 3rd, Wilkinson, 4th, Kochert, 6th, and Gilardi, 7th.
Catherine Germer placed 2nd I walk-trot, while Katie Sabella, 3rd, Nicole Gonsalves, 4th, and Courtney Hofman, 7th, all competed in beginner walk-trot-canter.

Brittany Gragg earned High Point honors at Sunday’s IHSA show at Taylor University. Gragg claimed 1st place in both intermediate flat and novice fences. Krista Jones placed 2nd in novice fences and Hayden Piscal 3rd in intermediate flat. Kelsey Ostberg garnered 1st in open fences, with Claire Freeman and Andrea Oliverio sharing 4th. Piscal took 3rd in intermediate fences. Freeman and Katie Baron tied for 1st in open flat with Lauren Desrosiers and Oliverio tying for 2nd, and Ostberg 5th in an event dominated by the Irish. Krista Jones took 1st in novice flat, with Alisha Wilkinson and Jennifer Gilardi tying for 2nd. Courtney Klosterman and Courtney Hofman were 3rd - 4th respectively in walk-trot-canter, and Kathryn Ozimek and Catherine Gerner gave the Irish a 1st - 2nd finish in walk-trot.
In Saturday’s compettion, Wilkinson and Gilardi shared 1st in novice flat with Jones 4th. Piscal took a first in intermediate flat with Gragg 4th, and Heather LaDue’s 2nd paced the novice fences with Gilardi 6th. Ostberg and Desrosiers were 2nd-3rd in open fences, and Piscal 5th in intermediate fences. Freeman led the Irish with a 2nd in open flat, followed by Ostberg and Desrosiers in 4th, and Baron and Oliverio tying as well for 6th. Catherine Gerner and Ozimek finished 2nd - 4th in walk-trot, while Hofman and Klosterman were 3rd-4th in walk-trot-canter.

The Notre Dame/Saint Mary’s Equestrian club placed a very close third in this weekend’s show at Purdue. The host Boilermakers and Indiana shared High Point honors in the twelve team field with 32 points each, while the Irish claimed third with 30 points.
Claire Freeman paced the Irish with a first in open flats with Laruen Desrosiers and Katie Baron tied for 2nd, Andrea Oliverio 5th, and Kelsey Ostberg and Allie Minnis tied for 7th. Ostberg, Baron, and Minnis took 3rd, 4th, and 7th respectively ni open fences. Hayden Piscal was 2nd and Brittany Gragg 4th in intermediate flats.
Krista Jones also captured a first place in novice flat, with Alisha Wilkinson 2nd and Jennifer Gilardi 4th. Gilardi and Jones also finished 5th - 6th in novice fences.
Kathry Ozimek took first in walk - trot, with Catherine Gerner 3rd. And Brittany Vechell took another first for the Irish in beginner walk-trot-canter. Courtney Hfman and Katie Sabella tied for 2nd, with Nicole Gansolves and Courtney Klosterman tied for 4th.

The equestrian club opened league competition this weekend with a pair of shows at St. Mary’s of the Woods College. On Saturday, Indiana claimed team high point honors, with Purdue earning reserve high point. The Irish rebounded Sunday however, to garner a first place tie with SMWC.
In individual results on Saturday, The Irish depth was best evidenced in open fences, with Kelsey Ostberg, 2nd; Claire Freeman, 3rd; Katie Baron, 5th; and Alie Minnis, 6th, earning points; and in open flat, where Baron took 1st, with Minnis and Freeman tied for 2nd, and Ostberg finishing 5th. Best showings in other events for the day included Catherine Gerner’s 1st in walk-trot, Courtney Klosterman’s 2nd in beginner walk-trot-canter, Brittany Gragg’s 2nd I intermediate flat, and and Krista Jones and Alisha Wilkinson finishing 2nd - 3rd in novice flat. Gragg, 5th (tie), Jones, 5th (tie), and Wilkinson, 6th, represented the Irish in novice fences.
On Sunday, Katie Baron captured 1st in open fences, with Alie Minnis 3rd and Kelsey Ostberg 6th. Hayden Piscal garnered a first in intermediate fences. Baron, Ostberg, and Claire Freeman shared a three way tie for first in open flat, with Minnis 3rd, and Lauren Desrosiers 6th. Heather LaDue claimed 1st in novice fences, with teammates Gragg, 2nd, and Jennifer Gilardi 6th. Krista Jones took yet another first for the Irish in novice flat, with Gilardi 2nd and Alisha Wilkinson 3rd. Courtney Klosterman rode to a 6th place in walk-trot-canter, and Nicole Gansolves and Catherine Gerner shared 2nd in walk-trot.

A most successful season was capped this weekend as equestrians Kelsey Ostberg and Molly Schmiege competed in the IHSA national championships in Harrisburg, PA. The pair qualified for the event by advancing through regional and zone shows. Ostberg had claimed the regional Cacchione Cup this year, recognizing the rider who earned the most points during the season’s competition.
At the nationals, Ostberg finished 18th in the open flat competition, and 22nd in the open fences event, for an overall national ranking of 23rd. Club captain Schmiege finished 11th in the intermediate fences division.
Ostberg and Schmiege are only the second and third riders in club history to advance to the nationals.
April 7-9, 2006
Molly Schmiege claimed 1st place in intermediate fences at Zones this weekend and qualified for Nationals. Schmiege will join Kelsey Ostberg, who qualified earlier this year. The Nationals will be held May 4 - 7 in Harrisburg, PA.
In other Zone results, Heather LaDue and Alisha Wilkinson finished 3rd and 6th respectively in advanced walk-trot-canter, and Alie Minnish took 5th in open flat. In team standings, Kansas State won the event, followed by Indiana and Wisconsin.

Equestrians Molly Schmiege, Alie Minis, Heather LaDue, and Alisha Wilkinson qualified for Zones at this weekend’s IHSAA Regionals. The four riders will next compete at Purdue this Sunday.
Schmiege took 1st in intermediate fences, with Caitlin Landuyt 4th and Julia Burke 5th. LaDue and Wilkinson claimed a 1st - 2nd finish in walk-trot-canter, and Minnis finished 2nd in open flat, with Kelsey Ostberg in 6th. Ostberg also finished 3rd in open fences.
Courtney Hofman finished 4th in walk-trot, Hayden Piscal was 5th in novice fences, and Brittany Gragg and Piscal were 4th and 6th respectively in novice flat. Lauren Derosiers qualified for regionals in both intermediate fences and intermediate flat, but did not advance.

The Notre Dame / Saint Mary’s equestrians completed regular season competition with a pair of Reserve High Point finishes at Saint Mary’s of the Woods College in Terre Haute. Kelsey Ostberg finished the season as the top Open rider in the Region, and advanced to the Nationals in Harrisburg, PA where she will compete in both Open Fences and Open Flat for the Cacchione Cup. Indiana earned High Point honors and will represent the region at the Zones. Clair Freeman garnered High Point Rider honors in Sunday’s show.

The Notre Dame / SMC equestrians captured High Point team and individual honors at this weekend’s show at Taylor University. Heather LaDue garnered High Point Rider honors in leading the club to its championship.
On Saturday, Kelsey Ostberg placed 2nd in open fences, with Alie Minnis 6th. Hayden Piscal and Laruen Desrosiers tied for 1st in intermediate fences, while LaDue took 1st in novice fences.
Katie Baron claimed 1st in open flas, with Ostberg, Claire Freeman, and Caitlyn Landuyt finishing 4th, 5th, and 6th respectively. LaDue captured another 1st in novice flat, with teammate Mary Dorgan earning 3rd in the event.
Molly Schmiege finished 2nd in intermediate flat, as Brittany Gragg and Catherine Linn tied for 4th , just ahead of Piscal, who finished 5th. Laura Hale finished 6th in walk-trot-canter, and Courtney Hofman was 2nd in walk-trot.
On Sunday, Alie Minnis brought home a 1st place in open flat to lead a strong Irish showing. Freeman and Landuyt took 2nd and 3rd, with Ostberg and Schmiege tying for 4th. Ostberg and Minnis tied for 3rd in open fences, while Desrosiers and Dorgant were 5th - 6th in intermediate fences, and Gragg 4th in novice fences.
Desrosiers was the highest Irish finisher in intermediate flat, at 2nd, with Linn and Piscal coming in 4th and 5th. LaDue took 3rd in novice flat, Hale and Alisha Wilkinson were 2nd and 4th in walk-trot-canter, and Hofman improved upon her first day 2nd place finish by taking 1st in walk-trot.
The club will travel to Terre Haute for this weekend’s show.

The Notre Dame equestrians hosted an IHSA show at Taylor University this weekend. Kelsey Ostberg’s garnered 1st in open fences, as Caitlin Landuyt and Alie Minnis placed 5th and 6th in the event. Lauren Desrosiers, Julia Burke, and Molly Schmiege finished a strong 2nd, 3rd, 4th in intermediate fences, while Hayden Piscal’s 5th in novice fences was the club’s top showing in that event.
Ostberg, Burke, and Minnis also had strong performances in open flat, finishing 3rd, 4th, and 6th respectively. Desrosiers and Schmiege earned 2nd and 3rd in intermediate flat, and Jessica Maciejewski took 2nd in novice flat.
Another Irish 1st went to Heather LaDue in advanced walk/trot/canter, with Alisha Wilkinson finishing 5th. Katie Sabella claimed 4th in beginner walk/trot/canter, and Courtney Hofman was the top Irish finisher in the walk/trot division.
Burke’s 3rd and 4th place finishes qualified the club’s only senior for Regionals later this year.

The Notre Dame / St. Mary's equestrian club featured several exceptional performances this weekend at the IHSA Zone 9 Championships in River Falls, WI. This was the first year the club qualified as a team for this event. The Irish finished third in team standings behind Wisconsin and Kansas State.
In team standing finishes, Katie Baron placed third in open fences, and Claire Freeman 3rd in open flat. Caitlin Landuyt took 2nd in intermediate fences and Molly Schmiege 3rd in intermediate flat. Hayden Piscal earned a 3rd in novice fences with Brittany Gragg 3rd in novice flat. Heather LaDue finished 2nd in walk/trot/canter, and Nicole Gonsalves was 3rd in walk/trot. In individual competition, Claire Freeman garnered a 4th I open flat for the best performance by the club at the event.
April 8-10, 2005
The equestrian club finished its final prep for next weekend's Zone Championships in River Falls, WI as a few club members tuned up in their specialties. As the Zone 9, Region 1 champion, the Irish qualified their entire team for the championships. Additionally, Claire Freemand finished 2nd in open flats this weekend to qualify for the individual competition. Katie Baron just missed in open fences with a 3rd place finish, while Caitlin Landuyt's bid for individuals fell short in intermediate flat with a 6th place showing, the club's third best finish of the day.
Team members who will compete this weekend include Freeman, Baron, and Landuyt, as well as Allie Montana, Hayden Piscal, Meghan Murphy, Heather LaDue, and Nicole Gonsalves.

The NDSMC Equestrian club continued its finest season in club history this weekend by taking first place at the St Mary's of the Woods College Invitational in Terre Haute. The Irish finished with 42 points, paced by Reserve High Point rider Caitlin Landuyt. Purdue finished second. Others in the field included Indiana, Illinois, Earlham, Ball State, and DePauw.
Scoring hightlights for the Irish included Karie Baron taking 3rd in open fences, and Caitlin Landuyt and Andrea Oliverio taking 1-2 in intermediate fences. Hayden Piscal garnered 1st in novice fences, withi Mary Dorgant placing 6th.
Clair Freeman led the Irish with a 2nd in open flat, with Oliverio and Chelsea Brown tying for 5th, and Baron finishing 6th. Landuyt took 1st in intermediate flat, just ahead of teammate Allie Montana, who placed 2nd. Catherine Linn earned 5th in the event.
Meghan Murphy captured 1st place in novice flat, with Brittany Gragg and Marta Ascadi tying for 3rd and Piscal in 4th. Nicole Gonsalves brought home another 1st place in the walk-trot division.

The NDSMC Equestrians competed in a pair of IHSA shows this weekend at Taylor University, claiming third on Saturday with 31 points, and Reserve High Point on Sunday, with 33 points. These results all but guaranteed the Irish will be crowned Regional champions and will qualify for the Zones championships. In Saturday's competition, Caitlin Landuyt earned High Point honors as the day's top scorer among all teams.
Landuyt claimed 1st in intermediate fences, with Andrea Oliverio 2nd and Mollly Schmiege 6th. Landyut and Oliverio tied for 2nd in intermediate flat, with teammates Chelsea Brown 3rd, Catherine Linn 5th, and Schmiege 6th.
Claire Freeman posted a 1st in open flat to lead a strong Irish score as Katie Baron placed 2nd, and Kelly Ostberg, Oliverio, and Molly Kopacz all tied for 3rd. Baron also took 2nd in open fences.
Kristin LaSota, Marta Ascadi, and Megan Murphy all finished first in their class of novice flat, with Hayden Piscal 3rd, Brittany Gragg 4th, and Lauren Croall 6th. Murphy also placed 6th in novice fences. Katy Booth earned a 2nd in walkl-trot-canter, followed by Laura Hale and Heather LaDue both in 5th. Nicole Gansalves claimed 2nd in walk-trot.
In action Sunday, Katie Baron garnered 1st in open fences. Claire Freeman placed 2nd in open flat, with Molly Kopacz 3rd, Baron, Kelsey Ostberg, and Andrea Oliverio all in 4th, and Julia Burke at 5th. Molly Schmiege took 6th in intermediate fences, the only Irish rider to score in the event.
Caitlin Landuyt took another 1st for the weekend in intermediate flat, with Clehsea Brown placing 2nd. Schmiege was 4th, followed by Ana Richter and Catherine Linn in 5th. Mary Dorgant and Hayden Piscal tied for 2nd in novice fences, with Megan Murphy 5th. Murphy and Kristen LaSota shared 1st in novice flat, Dorgant and Piscal tied for 3rd, with Britany Gragg 4th, and Katy Ryan 5th. Heather LaDue won 1st in walk-trot-canter, followed by Katy Booth in 4th, and Laura Hale 5th. Nicole Gonsalves finished 3rd in walk-trot.

Saturday February 12 the ND/SMC Equestrian Club hosted a horse show in Marion,
Indiana. The team completed the day as the high point team with 39 points,
while U of I finished in second overall with 28 points. Katie Baron of ND was
the high point rider of the day, and Purdue University's Cameo Parrish was the
reserve high point rider.
Divisions were split into several classes.

On Sunday, Feb 13, the team traveled to Purdue University to compete. Notre Dame
finished second overall with 30 points, behind Purdue University, who garnered

The Notre Dame / Saint Mary’s equestrian club competed in two shows this weekend at Taylor University. On Saturday, the Irish’ 23 points placed them behind first place Illinois (31 points), and second place Indiana (30 points), but on Sunday, the riders claimed High Point Honors with 38 points.
In Saturday’s competition, Katie Baron garnered 1st in open flats and 2nd in open fences with Kelsey Ostberg taking 4th in the same events. Molly Kopacz, 4th, and Julia Burke, 6th, also scored points in open flats. Three Irish – Chelsea Brown, Marina Cardona, and Andrea Oliverio - took 1st in their intermediate flats divisions. Ana Richter and Molly Schmiege finished 3rd and 4th.
Other team highlights for the day included Mary Dorgant’s 3rd place in novice fences, a 5th for Schmiege in intermediate fences, and a 2-3-4 finish in novice flats by Brittany Gragg, Catherine Linn, and Hayden Piscal. Heather LaDue and Lauren Croall tied for 2nd in advanced walk-trot-canter, with Katy Booth 6th. This enabled Croall to qualify for Regionals. Anne Trout’s 6th place finish in walk-trot completed the scoring.
In Sunday’s action, the Irish captured first places in five events. Katie Baron, open flat; Andrea Oliverio, intermediate flat; Molly Schmiege, intermediate fences; Heather LaDue, walk-trot-canter, and Anne Trout, walk-trot all took blue ribbons. Oliverio and Croall each took 2nd, Dorgant and Marina Cardona 3rd, Piscal, Linn, and Schmiege 4th, and Liz Bell, Ana Richter, and Laura Hale 5th place, and Julia Burke 6th in their events to complete the team scoring.

Notre Dame’s esquestrian club captured high point honors in this weekend’s show at Purdue. The Irish edged the host Boilermakers 32 – 30 to claim first place in the field. Hayden Piscal capped a great individual performance by participating in a ride off for individual high point honors for the event.
Top Irish performances included Piscal and Kristin LaSota tying for 1st in novice flat, with Catherine Linn 2nd, and Piscal tying for first with Mary Dorgant in novice fences. Liz Bell and Molly Kopacz claimed 1st and 5th respectively in open flat, while the Irish nearly swept the field in intermediate flat as Caitlin Landuyt took 1st, Chelsea Brown 2nd, Andrea Oliverio 4th, and Ana Richter 5th. Landuyt and Oliverio also tied for 2nd in intermediate fences. Strong performances by Katie Baron and Kelsey Ostberg earned them a tie for 3rd in open fences. In a down to the wire contest where every point was pivotal, the Irish also scored in walk trot as Joanne Arfanis finished 2nd and Nicole Gonsalves 6th; and in advanced walk-trot-canter, as Heather LaDue and Katy Booth tied for 6th. Liz Bell, one of the Irish top performers, also earned a 6th place ribbon in open fences.

The Notre Dame equestrian club placed third at the St. Mary’s of the Woods College Invitational this weekend, behind St. Mary’s of the Woods and Purdue. Illinois, Indianapolis, Butler, Parkland, Ball State, IUPUI, Indiana, Taylor, and Earlham completed the field. Julia Burke took first in open flat, with Liz Bell 2nd, Katie Baron and Claire Freeman each 4th in separate classes, and Kelsy Ostberg 5th. Freeman and Baron finished 3rd and 5th in open fences, while Molly Schmiege, Caitlin Landuyt, and Andrea Oliverio finished a strong 1st, 2nd, 4th in intermediate fences for the Irish.
Mary Dorgant also claimed a 1st in novice fences, with teammate Brittany Gragg earning 5th. In three intermediate flat classes, Andrea Oliverio took 2nd, Marina Cardona Maldonado and Landyut 4th, Ana Richter 5th, and Schmiege 6th. Kristen LaSota and Gragg tied for fifth in novice flat, Anne Trout finished 5th in walk-trot, and in four advanced walk-trot-canter classes, Kay Booth claimed 1st, Laura Hale 3rd, Heather LaDue 5th, and Lauren Croall 6th.

Five members of the Notre Dame Saint Mary's Equestrian club traveled to University of Connecticut this weekend to compete in the prestigious Intercollegiate Horse Show Assosciation's Tournament of Champions.
Twenty schools from across the country participated.
Caitlin Landuyt represented the Irish in the Open division, and placed fifth in her fences class. In the intermediate division, Andrea Oliverio placed sixth in her flat class. Mary
Dorgant competed in the Novice division, Lauren Croall in Walk-Trot-Canter, and Anne Trout competed in Walk-Trot. This is the first time the Irish have been invited to this event.
