April 4-6, 2008
The Notre Dame / Saint Mary’s gymnastics club sent four women to Ann Arbor for the Michigan Madness Meet. Competing as individuals since there were not enough to field a complete team, the Irish looked strong. Sammy Bello, Sophie Troy, and Kelleen O’Leary were particularly strong on the balance beam where they stuck their routines and turned in season best scores.

This past weekend, the Notre Dame Gymnastics Club competed at the NAIGC National
Championships held in Cincinnati, Ohio and hosting by Miami of Ohio University.
Despite having a small team, the women competed very well, scoring a 106.00. For Maura Steed and Wendy Jo Svetanoff, this was the last meet of their undergraduate careers. Kelleen O'Leary was the top finisher for the Irish, qualifying to the event finals on the uneven bars. Sophia Troy and Jacquelyn Carney also turned in solid performances to help the Irish.
The University of Texas won the men's team title, while Texas A & M University captured the women's title. This concluded a great season for the gymnastics team.

This past weekend, the Notre Dame Gymnastics Club hosted the 25th Annual Clover
Classic. 18 women's teams and 12 men's teams participated, providing great
competition for the event. It was also senior night for the Irish. President Wendy Jo
Svetanoff led the way, placing 5th on beam and tying for 3rd on floor. Paul
Kane, Maura Steed, Cecilia Torres, and Alya Holowatyj also turned in exceptional
senior performances. Anne Krishnan placed 5th on vault and 2nd on floor, and
Kelleen O'Leary placed 5th on bars. Kelsey Ingram, Sophia Troy, Katie
Wanserski, and Jacquelyn Carney contributed the to Irish women’s 3rd place finish.
Penn State won the women’s division, beating Miami of Ohio by .025.
On the men's side, Zach Gagnon placed 2nd on high bar and Danny Nolan also contributed to the team total. Penn State won the men's team title as well, with Illinois
placing second and Northern Illinois third. The final meet for the Irish
will be the NAIGC National Championships held in Cincinnati, April 12-15.

The Notre Dame Gymnastics Club continued their strong showing this past weekend
at the Michigan Madness Meet, held in Brighton, MI and co-hosted by the
University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University. Anne Krishnan once
again led the women's team by placing 1st on vault, 4th on beam, 7th on floor
and 3rd in the all-around.
Freshman Kelsey Ingram also made a strong showing in her second meet for the Irish, placing 5th on both beam and floor. Kelleen O'Leary also placed 3rd on bars. Wendy Jo Svetanoff, Sophia Troy, and Alya Holowatyj also contributed to the team's 3rd place finish.
Miami of Ohio won the team competition, with the University of Michigan placing second. Paul Kane was the lone representative for the Irish men, turning in strong performances on floor and vault. The Irish will host the next meet, the 25th Annual Clover Classic, this upcoming weekend, at Gymnastics Michiana.

Notre Dame’s women’s gymnastics team dominated the Fighting Illini Invitational this weekend, winning five of the possible six first places. Sophomore Anne Krishnan again led the way by winning the vault, balance beam, floor exercise and the all around, while finishing fourth on the uneven bars. Freshman Kelsey Ingram shined n her debut performance for the Irish, placing 5th on beam, 3rd on floor, and 3rd in the all around. These two gymnasts, complemented by Maura Steed’s 4th place finish on floor and contributions from Wendy Jo Svetanoff, Courtney Collins, Jacquelyn Carney and Alya Holowatyj added up to a first place in the team competition as well.
The men’s team was led by Paul Kane and Mike McGrady, who had the best showing for the squad, a 3rd on the vault. The Irish will next compete at the University of Michigan on March 24th.

Notre Dame entered individuals rather than a complete team in the season opener, Purdue’s Golden Grips. In a field that included nineteen women’s teams, sophomore Anne Krishnan dominated her competition, taking first place on the balance beam, floor exercise, and the all-around.
Classmate Kelleen O’Leary also collected a trophy, placing 3rd on the uneven bars. Other Irish to participate included Maura Steed, Jacquelyn Carney, and Brian Dunn in the men’s competition. Next up for the Irish will be the Illini Invite on March 3rd in Champaign, IL.

The Notre Dame Gymnastics Team finished their season this past weekend at the
NAIGC Gymnastics Nationals in Oakland, California. The Irish had one of their
best performances all year, with several members increasing the difficulty of
their routines and obtaining season high scores.
The Notre Dame women had an excellent meet, falling just short of reaching
team finals. The Irish were led by freshman Anne-Marie Krishnan and Kelleen
O'Leary. Both Krishnan and O'Leary qualified for event finals. Other strong
performances were turned in by Cecilia Torres, Wendy Svetanoff, Maura Steed,
Kelly Pirozzi, Courtney Collins, Jacquelyn Carney, and Lucianna Ravasio.
Krishnan and O'Leary both won individual events in the preliminary competition
and qualified for the final round of competition. Krishnan won beam and also
qualified on floor by placing third. O'Leary won the bars competition, which
also qualified her to compete in individual event finals. Both women had
excellent performances and represented the Irish well in the finals. O'Leary
had an excellent routine that earned her sixth place overall in the NAIGC Bars
Competition.
The Notre Dame men also had a strong performance. The Irish were led by Brian
Dunn who qualified on for the final round of competition by placing third on
the parallel bars. Other strong performances were turned in by Alan Arico and
Joe Lillie. The Irish were unable to field an entire men's team due to injury.
March 24-26, 2006
The Notre Dame Gymnastics Club hosted the 2006 Clover Classic this weekend
at Gymnastics Michiana.
The Notre Dame women had their best meet of the season, falling just short of
placing. Leading the Irish were Anne-Marie Krishnan who placed first on vault,
second on beam, fifth on floor, and second in the all-around competition. Also
placing for the Irish were Kelleen O'Leary who placed first in the uneven bars
competition and Wendy Svetanoff who placed fourth on beam and second on floor.
The women's team competition was won by Miami University with Penn State and
Purdue finishing second and third.
Brian Dunn helped lead the Notre Dame men with a strong performance on parallel
bars, earning third place. The men failed to turn in a complete team score due
to injury. The men's team competition was won by Penn State, as Purdue and
Triton placed second and third.
Notre Dame will wrap up its competitive season in California the weekend of April 7-9, at the NAIGC Nationals.
February 24-26, 2006
The Notre Dame Gymnastics Club competed this weekend at the Indiana University Big Red Classic. Several gymnasts had strong performances and received their highest scores of the season. The Irish continue to improve and appear to be peaking at the right time.
The Notre Dame women were led by Anne Krishnan and Wendy Svetanoff, as each placed in two events. Krishnan placed 2nd on beam and 4th on vault, while Svetanoff placed 5th on vault and 6th on beam. Additionally, Krishnan placed sixth in the all-around and continues to anchor the team. Solid performances were also turned in by Cecilia Torres, Kelleen O’Leary, Kelly Pirozzi, and Maura Steed. Several gymnasts increased the difficulty for their routines for this meet and received season high scores. The women’s meet was won by Miami of Ohio.
The Notre Dame men also turned in a strong performance. Competitors included Brian Dunn, Paul Kane, and Joe Lillie.
The Notre Dame men failed to field a complete team score, due to injury. The men’s meet was won by the University of Illinois. The Irish look forward to being healthy and having a complete team at the Clover Classic on March 25th, at Gymnastics Michiana. The Classic will complete the regular season.

Continued and steady improvement marked the Notre Dame / Saint Mary’s gymnastics performance at Purdue’s Golden Grips this weekend. While neither the men nor the women’s squads finished among the top three schools, both had strong showings with partial rosters.
Anne Krishan anchored the women’s team by capturing first in the vault and fifth on the beam. Cecilia Torres, Maura Steed, Kelly Pirozzi, Jacquelyn Carney, Courtney Collins and Lucianna Ravasio all earned team points for the Irish. Ohio won the women’s competition, followed by Purdue and Virginia Tech.
Brian Dunn’s fourth in the vault paced the men’s squad, with Alan Arico and Zach Gagnon also contributing points to the team total. The injury plagued squad is recovering and the club is getting closer to realizing its potential. The Irish will next compete on Feb. 25th at Indiana.

The Notre Dame/Saint Mary’s gymnastics club opened its season this weekend at the Miami Cup in Oxford, OH. Strong performances were turned in by both the men’s and women’s squads. Each of these squads has been ranked among the top ten teams in the country for the past ten years, with the men claiming two national titles and the women one during that span.
The Irish women’s squad was paced by freshman Anne Krishnan, who turned in a solid all-around performance adding up to a score of 31.375. Jill Mazur, Wendy Svetanoff, Cecilia Torres, Maura Stee, Jacquelyn Carney, Courtney Collins, and Lucianna Ravasio all contributed to the team point total. The host Redhawks won the invitational, but other team and individual results were not available at the conclusion of the meet due to a problem with the scoring program. It is expected that both Krishan and Svetanoff placed in individual events.
Brian Dunn and Paul Kane stood out for the injury-depleted Irish men’s squad. The men’s competition was won by Purdue, which will host The Golden Grips Invitational this coming weekend. The Irish hope to field a full complement of men at that event.
April 15-17, 2005
The Notre Dame Gymnastics team wrapped up their season at the NAIGC Nationals in
Buffalo, NY. The competition was held at the University at Buffalo, as teams came from across the country, including California, North Carolina, Texas, Minnesota, and elsewhere.
The Irish men had an outstanding performance and finished fourth nationally. Zach Gagnon led the Irish by qualifying for four event finals and placing in three events. Gagnon's best finish was second place on still rings, followed by fourth place on parallel bars and eighth place on high bar. Mike McGrady also qualified for four event finals. Brian Dunn, who just barely missed qualifying for event finals, and Paul Kane also had strong performances that helped to propel the Irish to their fourth place finish. Penn State claimed the men's national championship.
The Irish women also had a great weekend with two seniors qualifying for event
finals. Seniors Caitlin O'Brien and Mary Blazewicz anchored the women's team.
O'Brien qualified on floor and vault while Blazewicz represented the Irish on
beam. While neither was able to place, the Irish women had their highest
scoring meet of the year. Also turning in strong performances were Susan
Jennings, Cecilia Torres, Maura Steed, Wendy Jo Svetanoff, Cigi Low, and
Jacquelyn Carney. Texas was crowned women's national champion.
April 1-3,2005
Over two hundred gymnasts representing eighteen schools participated in this weekend's Clover Classic, at Gymnastics Michiana. The Irish placed fifth in both men's and women's competition. Triton won the men's division, with Penn State and Purdue placing second and third. Penn State took first in the women's division, followed by Ohio and Purdue.
Zach Gagnon placed fourth in all around competition for the Irish, as well as first on still rings, second on vault, fourth in high bar, and sixth in parallel barts. Brian Dunn, Mike McGrady, and Paul Kane also earned points for the Irish.
Seniors Mary Blazewicz and Caitlin O'Brien continue to lead the Irish. Both barely missed placing in several events. Susan Jenings, Wendy Jo Svetnoff, Cecilia Torres, Krissy Jackson, Maura Steed, Cigi Low, and Jacquelyn Carney all contributed to the Irish scoring.
The club will close the season on April 16th, at the NAIGC Nationals in Buffalo, NY.
February 18-20, 2005
The Irish Gymnastics team traveled to Bloomington to compete in Indiana's Big Red
Invitational this weekend. The Irish women were led by Caitlin O'Brien who finished first on floor, sixth on vault, and fifth in all-around competition. Wendy Jo Svetanoff also placed for the Irish with a fifth place finish on beam. Also contributing for the Irish women were Mary Blazewicz, Cecilia Torres, and Cigi Low. Purdue, Indiana, and Virginia Tech took the top three in team standings.
Brian Dunn and Paul Kane were the lone Irish representatives in men's competition, which was won by Triton, with Purdue and Virginia Tech placing second and third. The Irish will return to competition on April 2, when they host the Clover Classic at Gymnastics Michiana.

The Notre Dame gymnastics club participated in the Miami Cup Invitational, held
Saturday, February 5th, at Miami University of Ohio. The Irish women were lead
by senior Caitlin O'Brien, who scored a 32.45 all-around. Mary Blazewicz, Wendy
Svetanoff, Cecilia Torres, Maura Steed, and Charlotte Low also competed in the
women's division, while Paul Kane represented the Irish men. The women's team
competition was won by Ohio University, while host team Miami of Ohio and
Purdue finished second and third, respectively. The men's team competition was
won by Purdue, with Illinois and Miami of Ohio rounding out the top three.
March 26-28, 2004
The ND/SMC reign as NAIGC women's gymnastics national champion ended this weekend as the Irish were unable to defend their crown at the nationals. Vermont won the event, with Penn State taking second. Penn State also won the men's competition.
Caitlin O'Brien, Krissy Jackson, and Susan Jennings all placed in the top ten of an event during their session. O'Brien qualified for the individual event finals on vault and placed in the top 25. Mary Blazewicz, Wendy Syetanoff, Maura Steed, Kim Turnipseed, Lucianna Ravasio, Kelly Pirozzi, Cecelia Torres, and Kristi Peterson all earned points for the Irish as well.
Aaron Roberts, Andrew Roberts, and Todd Moffat all earned points for the men's squad. Aaron Roberts' score on the vault placed him in the top ten in his session, but the Irish were unable to crack the top ten in team standings.
February 20-22, 2004
Freshman Wendy Jo Syetanoff stepped up with a strong performance at the IU Big Red Invitational this weekend to lead the Irish women's squad. Syetanoff placed 4th on vault, 5th on balance beam, and 3rd all-around with a season best of 34.85. Cecellia Torres also placed for the Irish, finishing 5th on floor with a 9.0. Kim Turnipseed, Maurie Donnelly, and Lucianna Ravasio contributed to the team as well.
The men were led by Andrew Roberts, who finished 3rd on floor exercise. Calvin Umeda, Aaron Roberts and Todd Moffat completed the scoring for the Irish.
February 13-16, 2004
The NDSMC gymnastics club competed at Purdue's Golden Grips Invitational this weekend, with the women's squad placing 5th among 14 teams, and the men's squad finished 6th. In women's competition, Purdue, Ohio, and Miami OH claimed the top three sports. Caitlin O'Brien placed 6aath on the vault and tied for 6tah on the beam to lead the Irish. Kristi Peterson, Mary Blazewicz, Maura Steed, Wendy Syetanoff, Kim Turnipseed, Krissy Jackson, and Susan Jennings all earned points for the Irish.
Andrew Roberts, Dana Colllins, Ross Strambu, Calvin Umeda,and Todd Moffat all contributed to the men's scoring. Eastern Michigan, Purdue, and Illinois finished at the top of the men's standings.

The NDSMC gymnastics club's women's squad placed seventh out of eleven teams at the Miami of Ohio Invitational this weekend. Miami, Ohio, and Penn State claimed the top three places. Mary Blazewicz, Caitlin O'Brien, Cecelia Torres, Kelly Pirozzi, Wendy Syetanoff, Lucianna Ravasio, Maura Steed, and Susan Jennings all contributed points to the Irish score, but there were no individual first place finishes.

The NDSMC gymnastics club played host to twelve strong teams this weekend at Gymnastics Michiana in the annual Clover Classic. The defending national champion women's squad placed fourth in a tightly contested meet. Miami of Ohio took first, with Purdue and Penn State 2nd and 3rd by less than one point, and the Irish 4th by less than 2 points.
Mary Blazewicz place 1st for the Irish on the vault, 8th on balance beam and eighth all around. Caitlin O'Brien placed 10th on balance beam and 9th on the floor exercise. Wendy Syetanoff, Krissy Jackson, Susan Jennings, Kelly Pirozzi, Maura Steed, Maurie Donnelly, Lucianna Ravasio, Liz Maher, Kim Turnipseed, Kristi Peterson, and Cecelia Torres all contributed to the Irish scoring.
The men's competition was won by Illinois, with Purdue and Eastern Michigan following. Ross Strambu, Dana Collins, Aaron Roberts, Todd Moffat, and Eric Eddy all earned points for the Irish men's squad.
The next competition will be Feb. 7 at Miami Ohio.
