Fitness Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a fitness instructor?
The Challenge U Fitness program offers an instructor training class in the fall semester. The class covers topics such as choreography, format, music, anatomy, physiology, injury prevention and exercise techniques. The class is designed to provide the participant with practical application of the class content as well. At the conclusion of the class, participants perform a learned warm-up routine for the instructor and Assistant Director, Fitness. If the participant is deemed ready, you get paired up with an instructor of your choice to begin teaching the warm up in their classes. As you get more comfortable in front of a class, you take on more teaching responsibilities with immediate feedback available from the chosen instructor. We have been able to “recruit” many instructors from the training class into the regular group exercise schedule.
