Faculty/Staff Tennis Ladder

PURPOSE: The purpose of the Singles Tennis Ladder is to promote fitness, competition, and provide opportunities to grow the tennis community of the players at Notre Dame. This ladder is specifically for employees of the University.

RULES:
1. Players will initially be assigned positions on the ladder based on their NTRP rating (if you don’t know your rating, a self-rating will be used).
2. There will be a section on the Recsports website under informal Recreation with all the players’ names, phone number, email address, and work locations.
3. In order to move up the ladder, you challenge someone N levels above you. (N will be determined by number of players on the ladder).
4. After each match, the play who wins is responsible for emailing Peter Shoop, Assistant Director, Intramurals, at shoop.2@nd.edu the results of the match within 24 hours.
5. If you beat the player you challenged, you take their spot above and they take your spot below.
6. If you beat the player who challenged you, there is no move of positions on the ladder.
7. To meet the purpose of the ladder, you will be expected to challenge on a periodic basis (frequency to be determined by number of players, time of year, etc.). Sanctions for failure to participate may include loss of position or removal from the ladder.
8. If you are challenged, you are expected to do your best to agree to a time and place to play. Every effort should be made to conduct the challenged match. If you receive a second challenge before you play and already scheduled game, please let the challenger know that they must wait till you play the first challenge before accepting theirs because your position my change. If you have trouble contacting a player or arranging a match please contact Peter Shoop, Assistant Director, Intramurals.
9. Sanctions for refusing to accept a challenge may include forfeit or losing positions on the ladder.
10. The idea is to play tennis, so you will be expected to challenge and accept challenges. The goal is to have everyone play at least one match a week.
11. New players may enter the ladder starting at the bottom of the ladder at any time.

ELIGIBILITY: The Tennis Singles Ladder is for faculty and staff only. No undergraduate students or spouses are eligible.

SCHEDULE: The ladder will be posted on the Recsports website with all the players names, phone number, email address, and their locations on the ladder.

EQUIPMENT: Players must provide all of their own equipment.

LOCATION: All games will be played where the two opponents agree on. If playing in the Eck Center the two players will have to schedule court time and pay all fees.

INSURANCE WAIVERS: Each player to participate in this event must complete a Singles insurance form. (Pink Form) Rewards:

Rewards will be given periodically to those who participate the most!
