CoRec Water Polo Rules

RULES:
1. A maximum of 6 players (3 men, 3 women) play at a time, no team shall be permitted to play with less than 5 players (2 males, 3 females, or 3 males, 2 females).
2. Goalies can be either male or female. a female goal counts as 2 points, a male goal counts as 1 point.
3. Substitutions may enter the game in two situations: (1) when play is stopped - i.e. after a goal, (2) during play - i.e. at the sideline mid-point, player to be subbled must touch the sideline with the tube or body part, exit the tube, and eligible sub will take possession of the same tube, without the tube leaving the water.
4. Games will consist of two, 10-minute halves, with a five-minute half time. A running clock will be used, until the last two minutes of the second half, then it will stop for all dead ball situations (fouls, out of bounds, goals, etc).

ELIGIBILITY:
This sport is for the campus community. No residency restrictions exist. Teams may consist of any combination of undergrads, grad students, faculty, or staff.

SCHEDULE:
Teams must select their playing days and times at registration.

EQUIPMENT:
Officials will provide headgear, supervisor will provide innertubes.

LOCATION:
All games in regular season will be played at Rolfs Aquatic Center.

FORFEITS/RESCHEDULES:

If a team does not have the minimum amount of players at game time, that team will forfeit. No reschedules will be permitted in this sport. If a team cannot make a game, they may call 631-6100 or 631-4437 at least 24hrs. in advance of the game and request a default. A default results in a loss, but is not considered a forfeit.

INSURANCE WAIVERS:
Teams must complete a team waiver before playing.

PROTESTS:
Eligibility and misapplication of rules are the only grounds for protest. Protests must be filed in the RecSports Office in writing within 24 hours of the contest in question.

PLAYOFFS:

Teams with .500 records or above will advance to the playoffs. A playoff meeting will be announced at a later date. Teams will be seeded according to won/loss records.
