October 2021: Kaitlyn Tomshack

"I would like to nominate Kaitlyn Tomshack for the RecSports Student Employee of the Month! Kaitlyn has been one of our most consistent workers since the start of the semester and is very reliable every time she works. During the month of October, Kaitlyn has graciously worked a number of shifts that have not been the most appealing, in order to help out her peers and clubs. Kaitlyn gave up the chance to start her Fall Break early in order to work some last-minute late-night shifts, including a club shift the Friday leading into fall break. She never once complained about it. Kaitlyn has received last minute calls from the Sport Programs team to come into the office to help with administrative tasks and has answered the call with no hesitation. Kaitlyn continuously goes beyond the call of duty, specifically helping out with Interhall baseball and making multiple runs during a shift to make sure umpires and players have everything they need. Kaitlyn is an outstanding employee and I believe she exemplifies what it means to be a student leader! For this reason, I believe Kaitlyn Tomshack should be awarded the RecSports Employee of the Month for the month of October!"

September 2021: Nathaniel Bennett

Nate Bennett Employee Of The Month

"I would like to nominate Nate Bennett for MOST Outstanding Student Employee of the Month for September 2021. Over the last four weeks, Nate has attended both interhall baseball and flag football training. He has picked up multiple shifts in those respective sports to help out our staff and his fellow colleagues, and has gotten multiple compliments from other staff members and players on the excellent job he has done when officiating. As an official, Nate also stepped up to the plate and picked up a Sport Programs Supervisor shift to help out the Water Polo Club be able to host Fans at their event. Without Nate stepping up to help out, the club would have not been allowed to have their families and friends attend their competition. Nate has been an employee for us for less than 2 months and has already made a tremendous impact on the ND Intramural and Club Sports community! For this reason, I am nominating Nate Bennet for the MOST Outstanding Student Employee of the Month for September 2021!"

August 2021: Paul Jensen

August2021eom 500x300

I am selecting “Tall” Paul Jensen for the 2021 August MOST Student Employee of the Month. There was a week right after classes began where I witnessed Paul flying all over the office! He was organizing equipment for Supervisors and MOD’s, working through the evening’s schedules and planning how to get staff to Ricci Fields, Eck Tennis and Boehm Park for intramural baseball games. And of course, he had to deal with my ramblings about who knows what. So, watching him do this for two or three days that week was pretty impressive enough, but what made him MOST Outstanding worthy to me was his attitude. I think we all have heard the song “Whistle While You Work” and well, “Tall” Paul wasn’t whistling per say, but he had the best grin and biggest smile and the most positive attitude which was just as good as a whistle. I recently watched Ernie Johnson Jr. talk about “What I've got is a get-to job, not a got-to job. I get to do that,” and that was Paul’s attitude. He was happy to be here doing his job that day. Now, I sincerely mean this when I say that he inspired me to lift up my attitude a bit and have a bit more fun and be a bit more positive that day. Thank you Paul. I asked a few professional staff who I should choose to receive the award this month and I told them that I was thinking about “Tall” Paul and both said they thought “Tall” Paul was an outstanding selection! So, congratulations Paul, I speak for the entire professional staff when I say BRAVO ZULU (good job) and thank you for your hard work and the manner in which you do it!

June/July 2021: Mattie Interian

August Eom 500x300

"I would like to nominate Mattie Interian as the June/July 2021 MOST Outstanding Student Employee of the Month. Mattie just started working with us this summer and has made an immediate impact. She picked up several shifts right from the start when we had minimal staff to work the facility. During her first shift, I saw Mattie on her hands and knees cleaning the equipment. She has worked well with others and paid attention to the details while on duty. After working several weeks, she applied and was promoted as an Operations Supervisor. She has done an outstanding job in this role as well. Mattie is someone that has communicated very well from day one and we have relied on her a lot this summer. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Mattie this summer and grateful for her hard work these last few months."
