June/July 2017: Patrick Foust

June July 2017 Eom Patrick Faust 500x300

"I would like to nominate Patrick Foust as the June/July 2017 MOST Outstanding Student Employee of the Month. Patrick is a student at Trine University and we have been blessed to have him as an employee for both Intramural Sports and Facilities this summer. Patrick is a model employee that all staff should try to mimic. His positive attitude and hard work ethic make him an excellent candidate for this award. He is always looking forward to his shifts and never turns away from a challenge. I know he is always willing to pick up shifts within Facilities and is always asking Arianne and myself if he could help in any way with Intramurals outside of supervising. Patrick has helped us inventory football equipment as well this summer. His passion and dedication to continue growing in these positions, even for the summer, has been enjoyable to watch. For these reasons I would like to nominate Patrick Foust for the June/July 2017 RecSports MOST Outstanding Student Employee of the Month."

- Kyle Osburn, Intramural Sports Program Coordinator

"I would like to nominate Patrick Foust as the June/July 2017 MOST Outstanding Student Employee of the Month. Patrick reached out to Matt and I to work a few more hours within the building this summer. From day one, we could see Patrick's positive demeanor and willingness to learn. Patrick always has a smile on his face and does his best to engage with all of our visitors. He has shown his flexibility by picking up countless shifts the last several weeks.

Patrick also has identified areas that need attention throughout the Fitness Center while completing his cleaning duties and has filed a report to have the issues fixed accordingly. Patrick has shown wonderful composure during emergency and adverse times this summer. He was asked to take charge during a medical situation and had the composure to act and report the incident accurately. At the conclusion of the medical situation, Patrick then took command on a theft that occurred during the medical situation. Patrick had a calm demeanor during the situations and took the time to record all the important information. In the days following the incident and accident, Patrick was receptive to the feedback about responding to these situations. We had a wonderful conversation and I know Patrick wants to learn and develop his skills as much as he can.

He has also inquired about other opportunities within the facility along with the networking opportunities within the field of campus recreation. For these reasons I would like to nominate Patrick Foust for June/July 2017 RecSports MOST Outstanding Employee of the Month. Patrick's contributions will be missed this upcoming semester."

What do you want to be when you grow up?

My dream job is to work for either a professional organization (baseball, football, hockey or possibly basketball), or in the NCAA--possibly recreation or athletics; so working in one of those three areas in event operations in sports.

What are the top 3 reasons you enjoy working at RecSports?

  1. The patrons are awesome and great to get to know over time.
  2. My fellow coworkers including the front desk supervisors and especially the professional staff; it was an awesome summer working with them, getting to know them better, and to not only have fun but help them add to the name and history of RecSports. Everything I was involved in over the summer at Notre Dame had some aspect of fun attached to it. It was a fantastic time! Great people to work for and great people to get to know.
  3. Between being on campus and getting to do and see everything that I was able to be apart of while working for RecSports this summer was incredible.

What’s one thing you would like everyone at RecSports to know about you?

One thing that I would like everyone at RecSports to know about me is that I enjoyed and appreciated everything that everyone did for me, including introducing me to new people and new things over the summer. I am very thankful. Between teaching, working with each other, and learning & having fun, it was a great summer and I will take all that I have learned and use it to help me going forward in both school and my future work. I look forward to seeing everyone and spending time back on campus off and on here soon in the upcoming weeks. Thank you again for everything and have a great school year.
