March 2018: Kelsey Cummings
"I would like to nominate Kelsey Cummings as the MOST Outstanding Student Employee of the Month for March 2018. As the head manager for the Men's and Women's Boxing Clubs, Kelsey has a responsibility to effectively communicate and assure all protocols are followed for over 500 student athletes. Kelsey, leading the other Boxing Club Managers, was also tasked with making sure all medical protocols were followed and completed to be eligible to compete. Her ability to anticipate issues and effectively communicate has been extremely important to the success of the programs. She worked closely with internal and external partners to assure the advertisements and Boxing programs were completed in a timely fashion. Kelsey also took on new projects, utilizing a new platform for fundraising and working closely with the student leadership and the Development Office to achieve a record amount of fundraising. Kelsey has done amazing work and the success the boxing programs had this year is in large part to her positive attitude and diligent work. For these reasons, I would like to nominate Kelsey Cummings for the RecSports March 2018 MOST Outstanding Student Employee of the Month."
- Nate Walker, Club Sports Coordinator
I love to play and watch sports! Here at school I play on the Club Softball team, as well as internal flag football, soccer, whiffle ball, and curling. Being a big Chicago Cubs fan, I love watching them play. I am also very interested in art and enjoy drawing and painting in my free time.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
When I grow up, I hope become a successful engineer in the business environment. I am beginning my career at KPMG in Chicago this coming summer and cannot wait to merge the two fields. As a priority of mine, I will also focus some of my time on volunteering and hope to eventually have a family too.
What are the top 3 reasons you enjoy working at RecSports?
1. The people and community created within RecSports are so wonderful and friendly! I feel very appreciated, especially by my fellow managers and those in the boxing community.
2. The work I do makes a difference for those in the Notre Dame community, as well as those around the world.
3. Being involved in sporting activity encourages me to lead a healthy lifestyle, making me a much happier and healthier student.
What’s one thing you would like everyone at RecSports to know about you?
Some of my favorite memories I have from the past four years at Notre Dame are from my experiences with RecSports and the Boxing program. I have learned just as much outside of the classroom, thanks to RecSports.
