March 2019: Yvette Pino

Eom March 2019 Yvette 500x300 01

"I would like to nominate Yvette Pino as the MOST Outstanding Student Employee of the Month for March. Yvette shows the upmost respect and attention to our visitors. There has been countless times where I see her communicating with people as they enter the facility, regardless of where she is at the desk. She might be coming out of the back room or working the Equipment Desk, and she will communicate with people entering/exiting the facility. She will go out of her way to acknowledge people any chance possible. Yvette personally hands out the towels to our visitors and acknowledges each person as they pick up or drop off the towel. This might seem minor, however, she takes the initiative to make a difference and builds community within our facility. I am grateful for her attention to detail and what she does for our department. She is an outstanding employee and makes RecSports a welcoming place for everyone. Thank you for all that you do for us!"

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I want to be a teacher. My faith is very important to me and I want to share that with people. But beyond that, I want to make a difference in people's lives. I feel that, with teaching, I can help shape tomorrow's leaders, even if it is in a small way.

What are the top 3 reasons you enjoy working at RecSports?

  1. I love interacting with the patrons. I am given the opportunity to make someone's day better, and most of the time they make my day better too.
  2. My coworkers are incredible people. I really enjoy working with them.
  3. I love the atmosphere. This is my first job and I love everything about it. Even during a slow shift, there is something to do, whether it be towels, or straightening up the desk. It isn't too demanding and to me, I wouldn't want to work anywhere else.

What’s one thing you would like everyone at RecSports to know about you?

I am always available if you need anything.
