As the beginning of the semester draws near and our schedules are getting busier, it’s important to make your time spent exercising effective and efficient. Here are five tips to help you pick exercises to help you get the most bang for your buck when working out:
Exercise can be fun, provide motivation, and a sense of community, but many choose to exercise with the primary purpose of seeing improvements in, or maintaining current levels of, fitness and health.
Time and time again we hear about the many benefits of engaging in regular physical activity. For some of us, it may also seem like time and time again, we run into a barrier that keeps us from maintaining a consistent routine or even getting started with exercise in the first place. However, by identifying barriers in advance, we can develop strategies to overcome them and keep moving!
Something everyone has experienced when it comes to exercise is muscle soreness. Although it is often a by-product of exercise, it’s not desirable since it inhibits movement, decreases range of motion, and indicates inflammation in the body while it persists.
To our Notre Dame family, those at various intersections of identity, historically underrepresented people of color and other marginalized identities, and to the Black members of our family who are angry, do not feel safe, and are wanting change: we see you, we are here for you, and we will do our part to help you.
Setting a goal that you really want to achieve is a great start, but we need to be able to continue working at that goal if we want to achieve it.
Goal setting and proper goal planning are two of the best tools to help you stay motivated during and after quarantine. Pick a goal that matters to you - make sure it’s something that you want to do and learn about what benefits it provides to your daily life.
It's summertime and this means increased temperatures! It's important to stay safe while exercising in the heat.
Congratulations to the Notre Dame Class of 2020! Although this isn’t the way we envisioned the year ending, we are still Notre Dame, even when far apart. We will especially miss staff who have graduated and are now officially Notre Dame alumni!
The competition this year was the closest we had seen in the past four years. We are pleased to announce our Interhall Champions for the 2019 – 2020 school year.
If you have a body, you have a gym! It is important during this challenging time to maintain or even get active! Please be sure to adhere to your local government’s regulations at this time as well. Our tips are based on the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommendations for US adults.
Bengal Bouts has taught me the value of hard work and dedication – the lessons have been brutal at times, but the process has been the most fulfilling journey I know.
