What's your fitness philosophy?

You are far more capable of achieving goals than you realize. I help people realize their capability of accomplishing fitness goals.

How do you motivate participants?

I create workouts that are fun, challenging, yet doable. I also incorporate music to suit the needs of the client. I share my own fitness achievements (and sometimes defeats) so that clients can see I'm 'real'.

Most rewarding moment

One memorable occasion as a trainer was coaching a ND senior to run her first half marathon (the Holy Half). She was beaming as she crossed that finish line!

What types of clients do you normally take on?

I usually work with people who want to 'get in shape'  or who don't want to get out of shape. I also work with those who are wanting to train for a running event.

Fitness hobbies & other interests

I love endurance sports and am currently training for a 50K. I plan to train for a 50 mile trail run in the future. Besides running, I enjoy biking, swimming, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

What year/month did you first become certified as a Personal Trainer?

September 2012

What other CEC/CEU's have you taken?

Exercise and Obesity, Senior Fitness, Nutrition Fundamentals, Building Client Relationships, Stress Management

Where else have you worked as a Personal Trainer?

Gym Michiana

Why did you become a Personal Trainer?

I became a trainer so that I could help others achieve fitness goals in realizing they're far more capable of doing so than they often realize.

What is your personal go-to workout??

My workout of choice is to lace up my shoes and hit the trails!

How would you describe your personal training sessions? What type of training do you like to take your clients through?

I take my clients through three rounds of exercises, each covering three different types of movements. Each sessions begin with a warm-up of dynamic stretches and exercises to get the body ready for work. As I explain an exercise, I cover what muscle groups are being worked and give my client time to ask any questions. After all three rounds are completed, the session concludes with a short cool down and some gentle static stretching.
