The Climbing & Bouldering Wall is only open for climbing under the supervision of RecSports staff during posted hours of operation.
All patrons must present a valid Irish1Card upon entry.
Any patron entering the facility must sign a Climbing & Bouldering Wall specific waiver.
Patrons not affiliated with Notre Dame must be accompanied by a Notre Dame sponsor at all times in the facility. These guests must purchase a guest pass at the Smith Center for Recreational Sports Front Desk on the 3rd floor in the Duncan Student Center.
All patrons wishing to climb must undergo a RecSports staff led facility orientation upon their first visit.
Special access or group access will be handled on a case by case basis by the Climbing & Bouldering Wall Program Coordinator and the Assistant Director of Facilities Management & Operations.
Absolutely no leaning, sitting, or pushing against the glass windows.
Bare feet are not permitted in the facility or on the wall surfaces. Climbing shoes and closed toe shoes with backs are allowed. Shoes must be worn even while spectating and belaying. No sandals, Crocs, winter boots, etc. Please consult with RecSports staff for appropriate shoes.
Patrons are required to clean their shoes of any dirt, snow, or mud before entering.
Please remove all jewelry and empty your pockets before climbing.
To prevent the spread of illness, we encourage patrons to wash their hands before and after climbing.
Loose climbing chalk is not permitted in the facility. Chalk balls are the only method of chalk allowed.
All personal belongings should be placed in the hallway cabinets adjacent to the Climbing & Bouldering Wall Front Desk or out of the way of any climbing area.
RecSports is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Lost and found items will be stored at the Smith Center for Recreational Sports Front Desk for a period no longer than one month.
Foul language, rough play, or dangerous movement will not be tolerated in the facility.
No food or drink is permitted in the facility, with the exception of water in a closed and unbreakable, spill-proof container.
Climbers may not move or tighten loose holds. Please inform RecSports staff of any issues with the wall.
Climbers are allowed to use their own personal shoes or harnesses after being approved by a RecSports staff member. The use of personal ropes, hardware, or belay devices is not permitted. Personal gear must be either CE or UIAA certified.
Climbing clinics are available at the Climbing & Bouldering Wall Front Desk on a first come, first served basis.
Shoes, harnesses, belay devices, and lead climbing kits must be returned to the Climbing & Bouldering Wall Front Desk after use. Each piece of gear will be checked out to an individual patron and they will be held accountable for lost or damaged equipment.
Report any accidents or incidents to the nearest RecSports staff member.
RecSports staff hold the right to suspend climbing area privileges at any time.
Climbing lessons and clinics have priority use of climbing areas.
RecSports staff may ask patrons to move to another area at any time if safety concerns arise.
Personal training of patrons, either individually or in a group, is only allowed under the supervision and permission of RecSports staff.
