The Fighting Irish Synchronized Skating team placed first this weekend at the Mid-America Synchronized Skating Championships for the second year in a row. The competition took place in Fraser, MI, where the team competed against 6 other universities in the Open Collegiate division. Miami University came in second place and the team from Ohio University placed in third. The Notre Dame team skated a clean program and displayed a high level of fun and enthusiasm to go along with their Temptations-themed music.

The team returned to campus early from winter break in order to fit in some practice at the Compton Family Ice Arena before traveling to Fraser. Although the team only had several days to prepare, especially with the bad weather delaying their return to campus by a day, their hard work paid off! However, the team still has much to do before the Midwestern Sectional Championships at the end of January, which is the team’s most important competition of the year. They will also be skating before the Notre Dame Men’s Hockey game on Friday, January 17.
