The Fighting Irish Synchronized Skating team came in first place this weekend at the Midwestern Sectional Synchronized Skating Championships in Hoffman Estates, IL. The team skated a nearly perfect program and performed difficult choreography to a medley of energetic songs by The Temptations. They received a standing ovation at the end of the program and first place marks from four out of the five judges.

This is the fourth year in a row that the Notre Dame team has won this competition, which is the team’s most important competition of the year. The Irish skaters competed against 9 other Midwest collegiate teams including Team North Dakota and Miami University, who came in second and third place. The win was especially meaningful for the five seniors on the team as they have been Midwestern Champions for all four years of their college skating careers, the first time that has happened in the club’s history. This was the team’s final competition of the season, but they look forward to participating in several different performances throughout the rest of the semester.
