In the first home game of the semester, the Irish invited Loyola University Chicago for a friendly match this Sunday.  As a result of injuries and illness, Loyola was down several players, so Notre Dame sent a few girls to play with them.  The Irish are still introducing many new players to the game, so the starting line-up was significantly rookie heavy.  The Irish took control quickly in the first half and never relinquished it.  Seniors Amelia Vojt (2), Sienna Combs, Sara McGuirk, and Elizabeth Peterson; sophomore Katie Loughran (3); and freshmen Hallie Hoskins (3), Victoria Johnston, and Bella Bianco scored during the match, with junior Claire Kozlowski making 8 out of 13 conversion kicks, including a spectacular kick from the sideline.  Notre Dame was extremely pleased with the performance of all the players, but especially happy with how the new players are taking to the game and making a place for themselves on the field.  The final score of the match was 81-0 with the Irish defeating Loyola.  The Irish are looking forward to hosting Davenport University next Saturday at 1:00 pm as part of their “Pink the Pitch” event, a charity game raising money for breast cancer research.
